SHONA TOVA!
It's Rosh Hashana! Shona Tova! Congratulations! May the next year of your life be sweet and prosperous, MAY YOUR NAME BE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE!
Whether you are Jewish or not, it is good to reflect on your deeds of the past year. Or - years! Life is so much sweeter when you are sweet to others. By that I mean that, people's hearts and life's opportunities open when you treat others right.
This is the time to reflect and re-direct your behavior, or - in plain English - repent and determine to live better.
This is also the time to ask our Heavenly Parent to grant us a year of happiness and prosperity. That's why it is customary in the Rosh Hashana season to eat apples and other things dipped in honey.
What was that about the book of life? On the last day of Rosh Hashana, the great shofar (horn) will sound, and the names of all, who follow God's precepts of living, will be written in the Book of Life for the next year. I'd like to be in that book, won't you?
PROSTITUTE
Dr. Park, in a glow of self-importance, declared today: "I discovered what to do with my prostitute!" Both, Roberta and I dropped our toast and the bottom jaws. "What?!" "I discovered how to treat my prostitute!.. I mean, prostate!"
OBAMA-CARE
Asale wants to meet today to discuss a possibility of working for the Obama Care. Since I have no idea what it could involve, I am trying not to have many expectations. May be it will be a good way to make some extra money. May be I can help my friends and other people with limited resources. Anyway, it's a new project in the United States, never tried before.
I have a divided mind about Universal Insurance. Perhaps, because I always had an insurance. I am afraid that all of the medical care will turn into Keiser-like mess. Of course, some insurance is better than no insurance. Who knows, what our circumstances will be like in the future!

JOHN DENVER I'd Rather Be A Cowboy John Denver Live
I'D RATHER BE A COWBOY
Jessie went away last summer a couple of months ago
After all our time together it was hard to see her go
She called me right up when she arrived asked me one more time to come
Livin' on the LA freeway ain't my kind of havin' fun
I think I'd rather be a cowboy I think I'd rather ride a range
I think I'd rather be a cowboy than to lay me down in love and lady's chains
When we were just beginning it was such an easy way
Myin' backup in the mountains makin' songs for sunny days
She got tired of pickin' daisies and cookin' my meals for me
She can live the life she wants to yes and it's all right with me
I think I'd rather be a cowboy...
I'd rather live on the side of a mountain
Than wander through the canyons of concrete and steel
I'd rather laugh with the rain and sunshine
And lay down my sundown in some starry field
Oh but I miss her in the mornin' when I awake alone
The absence of her laughter is a cold and empty sound
But her memory always makes me smile and I want you to know
I love her yes I love her just enough to let her go
I think I'd rather be a cowboy...
I think I'd rather be a cowboy...

You know, I think, John Denver's songs were the biggest influence on me coming to love America. He conveyed so much nostalgic yearning, with words and voice so true that my heart was right there with him, longing for country, for love or for a loved ones. This song, and a couple of others, like "I'd rather be a cowboy" really pull on my heart. You might think that I am old-fashioned, but my daughter is 20. When I was away from the kids for about half a month, she used to constantly listened to Denver's "Leaving on a jet plane" and cried for me. Together we listened and sang to his CDs when I was home.
